Concern for Critters mission is directly related to the belief that animals have the right to share our planet without being harmed: that they be permitted to live out their lives in ways appropriate to their species without being opposed or exploited.
Concern for Critters was founded in1980 in Battle Creek, Michigan to help raise awareness about animal welfare and animal rights issues: pet overpopulation, factory farming, bio-medical research, cosmetic and house hold product testing, pound seizure, trapping, abuse and owner responsibility. The main focus is dog and cat neuter/spay and educating the public about all animal issues.
Over-abundance of dogs and cats is the worst problem facing domestic animals in our nation. With overpopulation comes cruelty, abandonment, and homelessness. Over 20 million unwanted animals are put to death each year due to pet overpopulation. Since establishing the general neuter/spay program in 1982, Concern for Critters has helped to neuter/spay thousands of dogs and cats at a cost of over $85,000. Critters pays a portion of the neuter bill directly to the veterinarian of choice. Anyone can qualify for this program; the amount paid is based on the individual's circumstances.
